When her mother became sick and passed away in 1935, Emlyn was just 13.
The Knutson siblings helped take care of Emlyn as well as Sam and delayed their own schooling to take care of the Knutson home.
Later on, the family moved to De Graff, where she graduated from Benson High School in 1959.
Ro Jean and her husband Jim O’Malley (1933-2009) lived in De Graff, Minnesota and raised five boys (John Patrick, Patrick James, Michael John, Jimmy Dugan, and Bradley Charles).
She was baptized in 1925 and confirmed April 4, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township.
