Windows XP version 2002 SP2 home edition AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800 1.53Ghz, 512 mb of RAMAVG 8.0.138 shows that the database for anti-virus and anti-spyware component are outdated (and not active). Some components report an error.\u0022I click on Update Now but there are no new updates.-----------------------------------------------------Ever since I installed the new Spybot, the whole registry change permission is confusing me. -------------------------------------------------------*when I uninstalled AVG, I deleted the files in the virus vault. After I downloaded the AVG files (saved to desktop), there are 2 files on the desktop:1) avg_free_stf_en_8_138a1332 (application file) 2) avg_free_stf_en_8_138a1332(PART File)Normally the installation launches when I double click it. According to below, I should have been more cautious. you for everyone's advice. I still get 2 files when I download from the AVG website (via CNET's).That's why I suggest trying disabling rather than deleting it first.Something else I've also thought about is replacing it with a dummy file of the same name but quite frankly if a program is causing me that much annoyance I uninstall it.AVG has acknowledged that the patch can send some 64-bit Windows 7 machines in to a crash cycle, forcing a reboot of the computer from which it never restarts. The problem is caused by one particular virus database update, which automatically forces the computer to reboot in order for the update to take affect.Upon restarting, the PC will register a "c0000135 error", and will not complete the boot cycle.

IF the restore points works - have a look WHAT you have in your "quarantined" folder and IF you can delete what you have in there. I tried to restore to when I uninstalled AVG 7.5 (~May23, 2008) but I received a message that says that the restoration was not possible.

Mine just updated to that version as well, even though I had the CCleaner.exe/updater blocked by my COMODO am I mistaken? I am in the process of an Un-install, Clean up the leftover crap, (with their tool), going off-line etc., etc., etc.

Trouble I have now is, that AVASt UI will not open correctly. Just another "stuff-up" by the AVAST team....methinks.

I would be glad if you try the latest version and report any feedback so we can work together to improve CCleaner product for all our users. Petr NB: AVAST has included a "CCleaner.updater.exe" to CCleaner.

  1. I click on Update Now but there are no new updates. AVG runs automatically during the night at the time I set for this, and it automatically.

  2. Dec 11, 2010. Computers running the 64-bit version of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating. The software update is no longer available to users, but AVG has.

  3. The installer will now begin downloading any updates it can if you are. If AVG does not open automatically, you may need to open it by clicking the Start.
